HONORING A FALLEN OFFICER

For the last 18 years, Lubbock Police Department motorcycle officers have made the trip to Odessa to honor and visit the grave site of fallen LPD motorcycle officer, Rodney Kendricks.

In July of 2001, Kendricks was involved in a crash while escorting a funeral procession. Several days later, on July 8th, Kendricks passed away due to his injuries.

Every year since his death, members of our motorcycle unit have traveled to Odessa for the Odessa Police Department Peace Officer Memorial that is held at the cemetery where Kendricks is buried. The trip in 2019 was extra special as some of our officers got to meet and visit with Kendricks' mother and family members.

Thank you for your service, Officer Rodney Kendricks
